At first I had my doubts, bc I was using the cheapest clearcoat I could find with my 30 yr old hvlp devilbiss flg gun. It would not lay down smooth even with a 1.4 tip and thinned 20%. So then I got this, and used the same paint with slow reducer and slow activator. This thing lays out clearcoat like glass! I think bc it's high efficiency is why I can spray as low as 15psi...that's not a typo, 15 psi and it atomizes as good as it does at 27psi. It even atomizes ok as low as 10psi! The only difference is way less overspray at the lower pressures. The spray pattern is super wide as well. (with higher pressure). The atomization of this gun is simply incredible! And it is so easy to clean. What I do is disconnect the air then open up the trigger and spray some carb cleaner through the gun until it begins running out clear. then I take it apart and do the final cleaning. I also have diaphragm type regulator, the cheapies don't cut it for me. I used to hate painting, now I love it! :-)Great atomization, works extremely well. I'm an amateur, and used this gun for epoxy primer, urethane color coat including microflake (.004"), and urethane clear coat. Excellent results with all. The only defects in the job were due to my own learning curve.Sprays nice. Not a huge air hog. Fan is a little smaller than I'm used to but seems to be laying metallics and peals nice. Good valueThis is well made and sprays well. Not cheap but moderate in price. I consider this the gun to buy if you aspire to learn how to paint by doing it. The HF cheap stuff will hold you back, but this is the starting point for semi-pro DIY guys who want to get better. If you paint a car or two here and there, I would recommend it.Paint Society suggested we try this.I can hardly wait to try it.I bought the S-27 PPS adapter along with it and the 3M vials.1.3 is good all around, andAstro Euro Pro says I can buy different tip assemblies directly from them for about 55 bucks a set. So one gun can do base, clear, and even primer if you get the right tip assys.I'm cheap, but I demand a good paint job.BYE, HARBOR FREIGHT BLACK WIDOW!I bought this to replace my eastwood low-cfm usage spray gun, figuring it was a middle ground between the HF guns and the big money ones. My main concern with the EW gun was the sub-par fan height. This one puts out a nice full 8-10" tall fan when 8" away from the piece (compared to the eastwood that is more like a 5" fan) and you dont need to move at a crawling pace to get the material down. I use this with a 60 gallon compressor, with a regulator on the output set to 80psi, and I have the small 3m regulator available on amazon mounted to the gun set to around 22psi. The guns instructions say go 29psi but it feels way too high of pressure at 29psi. I also immediately upgraded the cup to the 1000mL titan aluminum cup off amazon (you need to extra "import gun" adapter too). With all those pieces, you get a very nice spray gun. I have so far used it to spray 2k urethane primer and single stage enamel. I am yet to find out if this 1.5mm tip will be good with clear coat.I am not a professional but I don't need to be one to know this is a quality spray gun. For the occasional painter like me this gun does exactly what I needed it to do. For epoxy primers and polyester finish coats, the 1.5mm tip is just right. Maybe the 1.7 would have been faster but this gun lays down the product very smooth. I installed a new main air line oil water separator and I put a mini separator at the gun along with a regulator. Line pressure is set at 90 psi and the gun pressure is set at 30 psi. This gives me a 6-7 pound pressure drop and delivers paint at 23 psi. Perfect. Very little overspray. With a fan blowing in my shop, I am not so sure I need a cartridge mask but I always wear one and you should to. I only mentioned that to emphasize how little over spray there is. Great product at a very reasonable price. Wish I had a second one with a 2.1mm tip for lacquer primer. As good of a product as you can get for the $. Needed to paint various object around the house and always used an electric Wagner thy sprayed paint everywhere. Bought this and saw a husky hvlp sprayer at Home Depot for about $35 and was kicking myself a little. To say that I am glad I spent the money is an understatement. When I was done with my intended project I started looking for other projects....not wanting to put this down. Bought the 3m attachment which imo is a must to regulate pressure. Contacted customer service via email for operation questions, heard back in 1 hr.Takes a little getting used too, as does anything in the beginning. I used a 6 gallon porter cable compressor which does not contain enough air, so I was in turn waiting for it to fill up...had to pause a few times during the project. That being said, how anyone, could rate this less than 5 stars for the $ is beyond me. OutstandingI was repainting my car for the first time, and honestly I was not going to spend $1000 on a gun for one job. After reading many many many reviews online I settled on this one. And I didn't go wrong. 1.3 tip is amazing for epoxy primer, and base. It sprays metallic really well! Clear coat was difficult though. I wish I had more time to mess around with it. 1.3 will give you orange peel, you will have to wetsand it, but it is the way. There is a reason why professionals have multiple guns for different stages.Overall: 1.3 is really good base gun. Maybe for my next project I will buy 1.5 to try for clear.I have been painting a lot of bumper covers and fenders. Didn’t like my cheap princess auto guns. This gun sprayed awesome. Gave a really nice finish. I was spraying Sherwin Williams and Nason single stage paints. Works great and highly recommend it. I get a really smoth glass finish.I have this gun setup to run around 14 PSI for clear and 22PSI for base and the rust are awesome. Results below are mirror like finish with a black base coat for testing. This paint gun is so worth every penny I paid for it, in fact I am going to buy another just for clear, once I dialled in the settings I got the same if not better results then a gun I paid a grand for.Excellent spraying gun. Lays paint fairly thin with the 1.3 tip but sprays like a gun 5x the price. And extremely easy to clean.
